Bassingbourn Airfield Track

BOOKING HOTLINE 0870 787 2116

Bassingbourn is an operational army and cadet training barracks, and is also used for land yachting and gliding. It is famous for being the home of the 'Memphis Belle' Boeing B-17, Flying Fortress Bomber during World War 2 and the US forces 91st Bomber group. The great plane was credited with being the first aircraft to complete 25 successful missions and of course was the title for the 1990 film. Bassingbourn also was used as the film set for many of the scenes of the 'cult' American movie, 'Full Metal Jacket'.

We are thrilled to be running events at this airfield. It has lots space and some thrilling corners with very good run offs and long straights. All drivers of all experience levels will find this a true test and highly entertaining.

The noise rules at Bassingbourn are 100 dB(A) at 0.5 metres and at 3/4 of maximum revs. This rule will be enforced rigidly, so if you have any doubts consider adding extra silencing. Please also note that due to a number of reasons competition cars can not be allowed at these events.

There is a petrol station within 1 mile of the track (with Super Unleaded) and a Shell station (that stocks Optimax) within 5 miles, together with plenty of local Hotels and B&B's.

Bassingbourn barracks is very well situated being within easy reach of the M25, close to Royston on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border.
