These are commonly asked questions, if you need an answer to anything else please email us and we will get in touch very quickly.
Do I need a fast/exotic car?
No not at all. Typical cars that have been to our events are Lotus Elise's, Caterham 7's, Subaru Impreza's, Mitsubishi Evo's, Ferrari 355's, Ferrari 360's, Ford Fiesta XR2s, Renault Clio's, Ford Escorts, Porsche 911's, Vauxhall Firenza's, VW Golf's, McLaren F1.
I must be too old for this sort of thing?
Motor racing great Stirling Moss and movie star Paul Newman are still racing successfully past their 70th years and we have no age limit on our track day drivers. The only requirement is enthusiasm and to be in good health.
But I have no experience.
No problem, your experience level is not important and we are very keen to welcome new track day drivers to our fold. There is no need to be nervous or worried that you feel you may be too slow, as all our events are run very professionally and tracks are not overcrowded. We ensure all drivers make room for each other and as there is always lots of track time, being held up for a lap is not important. This means even our fastest drivers are always patient and courteous.
Do I need special insurance?
It is not compulsory, but please be aware that many car policies do not pay out when you are on track, please check with your Insurance Broker. Also please take note that it is your responsibility to pay for any vehicle damage to your own vehicle, whether an accident was your fault or not. You can take out special track day insurance cover from Motorsport insurance company Moris. For more information click

What should I wear?
Clothes appropriate for the time of year, bearing in mind many airfields and race tracks can be quite windy and cold! We strongly recommend you wear racing boots, soft soled trainers or deck shoes when driving on track. Racing suits are recommended but not compulsory, but we do insist that you wear clothing that covers your arms and legs whilst driving. We supply good quality and inexpensive driving gloves and boots. Click this link to take a look:

What should I do to my car?
You should ensure that it is in a very good road worthy condition, that all levels are correct (though not overfilled as this can lead to spillages), tyres are pumped up to correct pressures (some people recommend pumping tyres between 2-6 psi above normal road car levels). Make sure your brakes are in tip top condition as track driving can be hard on brakes. Also ensure that there is nothing in the drivers cabin that can come loose or roll around (cassette tapes, phones, cans of drink etc).
Can I take out passengers?
Yes but only one at a time and they must have signed on with our staff.
Is it competitive?
Absolutely not. We do not allow racing, dicing, tailgating or timing of cars on any of our track days. Our days are for like minded driving enthusiasts and we work very hard to make our days as safe as possible and competitive driving detracts form this goal. Racing is inherently very dangerous, rest assured we do not allow these sort of antics!
Do I need a crash helmet?
We insist that all drivers and passengers wear crash helmets, with the chin straps done up securely at all times whilst on track. If you don't own one then we offer good quality helmets at a daily hire rate of just £10 or you can buy one from us from around £59.99.
What if there is a crash?
Safety is our priority on all of our events, but incidents can occur just as they do on the Public Roads. Every time you step into a car you are at risk. Firstly listen carefully to the driver's briefing, build up gradually throughout the day remembering that there is lots of time on track. Airfields have less to hit than race tracks, but if you do manage to hit something, marshals and paramedics will be attendance very quickly. Don't forget that there are no cars coming the other way, no stone walls, no stopped lorries, no pedestrians, no side turnings, so it's safer than driving quickly on the public roads.
Is instruction available?
Yes. We take pride in employing only the very best Instructors available and they are extremely friendly, helpful people with huge experience in driving events and motor racing. All newcomers are entitled to an Introductory lesson and then further instruction can be booked in advance of events. We strongly urge drivers of all experience to use this facility - you will be amazed at how much you can learn and how rapidly your driving will improve in all areas (smoothness, pace, awareness, safety, mechanical sympathy).
Will I wear out my tyres?
It depends mostly on driving style. You will if you drive too erratically. The best and fastest drivers are the smoothest and our Instructors are available to teach you the correct technique.
Can spectators come along?
At some venues you can bring as many people as you wish, but at our airfield venues which are active MOD bases we restrict this to 2 per driver.
Is food available on the day?
On many days yes it is, but not always, please check with us beforehand.
What about directions?
We email final instructions that include directions to the venue in the week leading up to your event.
What about noise?
Each venue has different noise regulations that your car must adhere to. Most standard road cars will easily be under the limit at all venues, however some side exit exhaust systems and modified cars can be over. We are very happy to test your car at one of our events and offer advice if you are unsure. Please call our office on 0870 787 2116.
